It’s taken several years to write this because my heart breaks for the women discussed here. Abuse comes in all forms, and its side effects and wounds are far-reaching. I’ve spent the last 40 plus years in prison ministry, and the ladies I have talked to and surveyed show an eighty percent abuse ratio: physical, sexual and/or mental. These ladies have lived lives unimaginable. Its like the question, “which came first, the chicken or the egg?” Did the abuse and lifestyle contribute to incarceration, or did incarceration happen because of the abuse?
